The Scottish Crannog Centre
Description
When the Scottish Crannog Centre was lost to fire in June 2021, the challenge was about far more than replacing buildings. It was about restoring a much-loved cultural landmark and creating a new museum and café that respected its lochside setting while meeting modern standards of quality, safety and accessibility.
Acting as fully accredited main contractor, JML delivered the project from concept to completion - providing full project management, design, manufacture and installation of the new buildings, alongside foundations, internal fit-out and landscaping works. The rebuild was delivered within tight logistical constraints and a sensitive heritage context.
As a local business, it was a privilege to support the Centre’s journey from loss to reopening. The project brought together teams from across the JML Group - JML SIPs, JML Contracts and JML Garden Rooms - working collaboratively with shared pride and purpose to create something lasting.
In this short film, Mike Benson of the Scottish Crannog Centre reflects on the rebuild and the experience of working together to bring this unique part of Scotland’s history back to life.
